Mixing it up

Recently, a range of students with visual impairment were invited to The Lavender House to participate in a hands on cookery session with head Chef and Owner, Richard Hughes.

The session was designed for the students to learn a range of transferrable skills from chopping and slicing to bread making. Cooking with a visual impairment is a challenge that needs to be approached in a systematic and safe way.

The students learnt lots of tips to take away with them and many have progressed onto GCSE Catering and Food Technology courses.  A student commented "The Lavender House was very interesting and a good opportunity to learn from a professional to make tasty treats".
